The craft
Made one thread at a time.
Filigree is built from silver thread far finer than it looks in a photograph. Every curve is placed by a person.

Some pieces can take hours of meticulous handwork.
The material
Everything begins with silver. It is prepared and measured before any shaping starts.
The thread
The silver is drawn down into extremely fine thread. This thread is the raw material of every filigree piece.
The form
An outline is shaped to hold the design — the frame that the interior work will fill.
The filigree
The thread is coiled, curved and placed inside the form by hand, element by element, then joined.
The finish
The finished piece is cleaned and finished by hand before it leaves the workshop.
These stages are described in general terms. Exact techniques and production times will be published only once they have been documented with the artisans themselves.
