Our story

An extraordinary craft, in a contemporary language.

This project exists to introduce Paraguayan filigree to a wider international audience through jewelry people genuinely want to wear.

01

Why Paraguay

Paraguay holds a distinctive tradition of silver filigree that very few people outside the country have seen. It is extraordinarily fine work, and it deserves an audience far larger than the one it currently has.

02

Why filigree

Filigree demands extraordinary precision, patience and skill from the hands that shape it. Fine thread is drawn, coiled and joined into structures that look impossibly light. Its character comes from the precision, variation and human knowledge involved in shaping it by hand.

03

Why now

Traditional crafts can become harder to sustain when they are no longer sufficiently known, valued or economically supported. We believe that creating contemporary demand for this craftsmanship can be one way to help support its continuity.

04

From Paraguay to Europe

The pieces are made in Paraguay. The brand is based in Barcelona, where the collection is curated, photographed and brought to customers across Europe.

05

What we want to build

An independent jewelry brand that people buy because they love the pieces — and that becomes a reliable, fairly paid market for the artisans who make them.

The story behind BELARI

A note from the founder

Estefanía, founder of BELARI

BELARI began between two places: Paraguay and Barcelona.

Paraguayan filigree has always fascinated me — not only for its beauty, but for the extraordinary skill, patience and knowledge behind every piece. After building my life in Europe, I became increasingly aware of how little this craft, and so much of Paraguay’s cultural heritage, is known beyond our borders.

I also began to think about what can happen when a craft is no longer sufficiently known, valued or passed on. The knowledge behind traditions like filigree can gradually become harder to sustain, along with the opportunities they can create for the people who keep them alive.

BELARI was born from the desire to help change that. To create a bridge between Paraguay and Europe, bringing Paraguayan filigree into a contemporary context while sharing the culture, traditions and human stories behind it.

My ambition is for BELARI to become more than a jewelry brand: to create meaningful opportunities for people in Paraguay, to contribute to the recognition and continuity of this craftsmanship, and to make our culture visible to people who may be discovering it for the first time.

We are only at the beginning, and I want to build that impact with honesty — step by step, alongside the people behind the craft, and with respect for the tradition from which BELARI comes.
